MUDWAGON : A blackmetalfreejazzimprov compilation vol. 1 was released just a few weeks ago from the fine folks over at Edgetone Records from San Francisco,CA. This collection is really similar to the Ass Jazz comp., but with the lean a little more on the Jazz side, where the Ass Jazz comp. leaned a little harder on the metal side. The Instagon track that is included on this disc is "Orgone Collector" (show 482) recorded in October 2008 at the El Rincon, San Francisco,CA

SETLIST: Show 504 -Acoustic Set @ Deb n' Craigs BBQ Party

This show was unplanned and just sorta happened.. We have had Instagon shows at Deb n' Craig's home before, but Acoustic set are pretty rare in the world of this deamon. We knew Chad would be there, so we prompted him to bring an acoustic guitar, we came prepared with bass and mandolin. Stefano showed up and we let him jam the bass for a while while Lob played Mandolin.. but he soon had to leave and back to the bass it was for the deamon rider.. we played about 45 minutes.. it was windy.. the recording is really hard to listen to. Highlight was there was a sweet improv at the end of the session with Chad and Lob headhunting at each other within the theme from The Simpsons. [photo by Yvette Lucas]

Pinky's is not your average venue.. its kinda hard to get to.. and its on the river.. so you could come by boat .. its also got a couple of floors, an outside stage, a private stripper pole attic.. and great bbq and atmosphere..
Instagon played 1st of 4 bands that were all fun and cool to play with (The Grumpy was added last minute..we didnt get to meet them really..but they played Proud Mary!)
The line up for this show was the band that was scheduled to play our house party back in March...but the Butcher had other entanglements that kept him from that gig. ..so this is the rain check show for that line up.. who are now line up 503.

Comps.Part 1: WHOLE collab comp project from MEATRONIC Recordings

INSTAGON has been appearing on new compilations this year.. so far 4 and still counting.. Im gonna send out bulletins,blog posts, and mailing list blasts about each of them one at time throughout the next week..

the first one came out in the early part of the year on a net label called MEATRONIC. Its a free download type of release called "WHOLE".

acutuall more of a conceptual piece than an actual collection.. this compilation takes the collected tracks from the contributors and mashes them with other contributors. . getting fresh new mash-up pieces using the tracks from the comp. to create collaborations. Very different and cool.. Instagon appears on Track 5 of this project. The track used is called "Invokation in Minimalism" from show #429, Burnt Ramen Studios, Richmond,CA [side note: this show was done for Frank Moore's TV program "Going Deep to the Core" ].

Gosh..we havent played 3 sets in a long time.. it was lots of fun..the highlights for me was mostly the 3rd set.. "Dazed & Confused" was heavy..and "the Sunlight In My Eyes" was really awesome! "On The Green" was a great new simple riff that will probably be a new regular excursion. Total special thanks to Greycat for playing out and bringing lots of friends! this was an okay show.. it was a cold night.. and the opening bands just left and took all of their friends with them.. it was sorta lame..we showed early and watched them play.. they could have stayed awhile and done the same for us.. but oh well..no worries.. we grooved it up hard anyways, with or without them. special shout to our new friend Eric from Natomas who DID stay for the entire set.
